Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention

Early Support for Young Children

The early years are a time of important growth. For some children, additional support during this stage can help build a strong foundation for communication, learning, and connection.

Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention (EIBI) is designed for young children (ages 2-5) who benefit from more structured and consistent support. We work alongside children and their families to build skills in ways that feel meaningful and connected to everyday life.

How We Support

We take the time to understand your child’s strengths, needs, and what matters most to your family. From there, we develop a behaviour plan that supports learning across the environments your child is part of, including home, childcare, and community settings.

Support is provided through regular, structured sessions, along with ongoing guidance to help create positive learning experiences where children feel safe, understood, and ready to engage.

Your child’s team meets regularly, typically every 6–8 weeks, to review progress, reflect on what is working, and make adjustments as needed. A more comprehensive progress report is also completed annually to help guide next steps.

Areas of Focus

Our EIBI programs are individualized and grounded in a family-centered approach. Our approach is guided by evidence-based practices, including the science of applied behaviour analysis (ABA), and is designed to reflect the whole child.

Each program includes a comprehensive plan that may focus on:

  • Communication and language development
  • Early learning and foundational academic skills
  • Social interaction and play
  • Physical development, including motor skills
  • Independence and daily living skills

We also work closely with families and Behaviour Interventionists to provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and shared learning. Progress is monitored over time through regular data review, helping us understand what is working well and where adjustments may be helpful.

As children grow, we support transitions into new environments, including preschool and kindergarten, helping create continuity and confidence during these changes.

Working Together

Families are an essential part of the process. We work alongside parents to share strategies, build confidence, and support consistency in everyday routines.

Your child’s team may include Behaviour Consultants and Behaviour Interventionists who provide both direct support and ongoing guidance. Families are involved in selecting team members, helping ensure a strong fit for your child and your home environment.
