At Laurel Supports, we provide human-centered, evidence-based support for children, youth, and adults with autism and/or other intellectual disabilities. We meet people where they are, listen closely, and work alongside them to build lives that feel more connected, supported, and possible.

Our Approach
Families and individuals come to Laurel Supports during complex and overwhelming moments. We meet them there, with care. Our work is grounded in Positive Behaviour Support, honouring relationships and cultural safety. We believe behaviour is communication, and that trust grows when people feel seen, respected, and supported.
We listen deeply, honour each person’s strengths and preferences, and work closely with families and support teams to create the conditions for confidence, connection, and progress to grow over time.
Our History
1969 — Laurel House
Laurel Behaviour Support Services (then Laurel House) was founded as one of British Columbia’s few residential treatment centres for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). At a time when services were limited, Laurel House offered connection, learning, and a sense of belonging.
1990s — Evolving to Outreach
As community inclusion grew across the province, our services evolved. Laurel transitioned from a residential model to an outreach approach, supporting children, families, and service providers directly in their homes, schools, and communities.
2001 — Joining posAbilities
In 2001, Laurel merged with posAbilities, a community living agency offering a wide range of supports including community inclusion, employment, and home living. Through this partnership, the people we served gained access to a flexible, responsive ecosystem of support – all within one association.
Today — Laurel Supports
Now known as Laurel Supports, we continue to grow with creativity, care, and deep respect for the communities we serve. Our team of Behaviour Consultants brings diverse training, cultural perspectives, and lived experiences to individuals and families across British Columbia.
